Enrollment Deadlines for 2025 - 2026
*Re-enroll from October 1, 2025 - February 1, 2026
*New Enrollment is open year-round however March 1, 2026 is the deadline to participate fully at the Tioga County Fair and some other 4-H activities.
4-H PROGRAM AGES
The age cutoff date is January 1 of the current 4-H year. For the 2025-2026 4-H year, that would be January 1, 2026.
Cloverbud 4-H member: youth 5 to 7 years old
Junior 4-H member: youth 8 to 13 years old
Senior 4-H member: youth 14 to 18 years oldThe 4-H program is designed to allow youth and parents to work together. Qualified, caring adults act as advisers, guides and mentors. 4-H youth strive to build knowledge, skills and positive attitudes. It is imperative that the 4-H youth complete their own work throughout all projects. 4-H youth are required to attend a minimum of six (6) 4-H Club meetings each year.
4-H PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
All youth from ages 5 to 18 as of January 1, 2025 are welcome to enroll.
Cloverbud members (5 years to 8 years old) follow the NYS 4-H Cloverbud Animal Policies which provides a safe, developmentally appropriate outline for their participation. To read the full policy, click this link, NYS 4-H Cloverbud Policy
Youth are enrolled in the 4-H Program before the beginning of their selected project(s).
4-H members must be under the guidance of a club leader, parent or project leader.
Parents are required to be at all meetings with their 4-H children.
4-H members must turn in one completed project record book that contains quality records for each completed 4-H project. These are to be handed in each year in order to receive credit for a completed 4-H year and completed 4-H projects.
Project books are turned in 2 times a year. First, at the county fair and then Second, finalized by September 15th in order to receive credit for a completed 4-H year and completed 4-H projects.
4-H COUNTY FAIR PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS
4-H members must have participated in and documented six (6) educational experiencesduring the club year. Educational experiences include: club meetings, state events (i.e., Animal Crackers, March Dog Madness, etc.), and county workshops/ clinics.
4-H members must also have completed all trainings, evaluations or clinics that are required for their specific project (i.e., horse evaluations, dog classes, shooting sports training classes, workshops, etc.).
Project books must be entered via Fair Entry to be judged at the Tioga County Fair in orderfor a youth to participate in any way at the Tioga County Fair.
