Despite the uncooperative weather, the FestiFall Open House & Annual Meeting held on October 14th at the Hilltop Community Farm was a heartwarming celebration of community, local flavor, and the spirit of learning. While the rain may have dampened the outdoor activities, it couldn't dampen our enthusiasm, as the day unfolded within the cozy confines of the Horse Arena.
One of the highlights of the event was the delectable tastings provided by various local farms. Guests indulged in the rich and crisp flavors of apples and cider, sampled an array of artisanal cheeses, and savored more farm-fresh delights. It was a true showcase of the incredible produce and products that our local community has to offer.
The Cornell Cooperative Programs played a vital role in the event, presenting an impressive array of displays and activities for our guests. The Career VR set provided an exciting opportunity for youth to explore various career options in a virtual setting, igniting the flames of curiosity and ambition. Our Master Gardeners guided participants in crafting beautiful bouquets and decor, sharing their expertise and love for horticulture. The sensory table offered a playful and educational experience for the young ones, engaging their senses and imagination.
Live music filled the arena, creating a delightful ambiance that warmed the hearts of all in attendance. The highlight of the event, of course, was the 4-H Awards and Ceremony. We celebrated the retirement of the beloved Master Gardener, Barb Neal, whose dedication and passion for gardening have left an indelible mark on our community.
Following the heartwarming ceremonies, Tioga County residents were invited to participate in the 2023 CCE Tioga Annual Meeting. This crucial gathering allowed residents to have their say and vote for the 2024 CCE Tioga Board Members, ensuring that our community's leadership remains in capable hands.
We are excited to say that the FestiFall Open House & Annual Meeting was a resounding success. It demonstrated the resilience and camaraderie of our community, as well as the wealth of knowledge and resources available through the Cornell Cooperative Extension. We look forward to another year of growth, learning, and celebration in the Tioga County community.
