ESNY is a statewide food and nutrition program targeted to income eligible individuals and families. The goal of ESNY is to promote health by establishing healthy eating habits and an active lifestyle. Participating in ESNY programing increases the likelihood that persons eligible for the SNAP program will make healthier food choices within a limited budget and choose more physically active lifestyles consistent with the current Dietary Guidelines for Americans & MyPlate. Through hands-on learning, ESNY educates and promotes eating fruits & vegetables, whole grains, and fat-free/low-fat milk products every day and being physically active every day as part of a healthy lifestyle. Our six-class series touches on the five main food groups as well as learning how to read nutrition facts labels and how to reduce fat, salt, and sugar.
