Grant Workshop for Farmers

  • Tuesday, October 30, 2018, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Area farmers are invited to attend this workshop to learn about grants for farm businesses. At this meeting we will discuss the following grant opportunities:

  • SARE Farmer Grants for on-farm research projects
  • The NYS New Farmer Grant (for new ag businesses generating at least $10,000 and operating for 10 years or less)
  • The USDA Value Added Producer grants (if available in 2019)
  • An overview of grants and programs available through County Soil and Water Conservation Districts and the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service

Along with learning about the purpose of each grant, some pointers will be shared about how to write a winning grant proposal. All grants are very competitive and there is never a guarantee that after submitting it, you will be rewarded. However, the time and thought that goes into grant writing is generally a useful step in better business planning.

Monika Roth, CCE Tompkins Ag Educator, will be leading the class. Monika has years of grant writing experience and has supported and guided farmers in writing winning grant applications.
