Farming 101

  • Saturday, March 18, 2017, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Have you been wondering how to get into farming? You are invited to sign up for Farming 101, offered by Cornell Cooperative Extension and the Groundswell Center for Local Food and Farming. The workshop will provide an overview of what is involved in getting started including business logistics, land and soil assessment, and marketing. During the afternoon program participants will have the option to attend a session on raising livestock or on horticultural crops.

This workshop provides a good foundation for moving forward with land use options and farm business opportunities. Registration and a more detailed agenda will be available in mid-late January.

The SAME workshop is being offered in two Southern Tier locations:

Saturday, March 11, 9 AM – 3 PM – Chemung County Fairgrounds, 4-H building, 170 Fairview Rd. Horseheads, NY. With questions, contact Shona Ort, sbo6@cornell.edu, 607-734-4453 ext. 227.
